Following the successful launch of the Sport and Cross eBikes last year, Porsche is bringing updates to both bikes in 2022, which will enhance performance and provide an even better riding experience. The timeless design, outstanding technical features and fascination of the Porsche brand are also unmistakable in the new Porsche eBikes.
According to Porsche, the sporty character of the Porsche Taycan served as inspiration for both models. The organically shaped carbon frame quotes the roof line of the vehicle. The two-dimensional frame design developed by Studio F. A. Porsche ensures optimum light reflections. Both models were developed in collaboration with e-bike specialist Rotwild.
Porsche eBike Sport — All-rounder for everyday use
The Porsche eBike Sport is the ideal companion for everyday use, whether in the city or in the country, on the way to work or during leisure time. The new tires from Continental provide more grip on gravel roads and unpaved paths. A powerful four-piston brake caliper from Magura is now also used on the rear wheel, which is supposed to provide a perfect brake balance for even more powerful deceleration.
Although Porsche has now completely taken over the manufacturer Fazua, these two bikes do not use the new and particularly lightweight Fazua drive system. Instead, they rely on the powerful Shimano EP8 mid-drive motor, which is supposed to provide powerful propulsion in conjunction with the 630 Wh drive battery.
Porsche eBike Cross — from Tour to Trail
Off paved roads should be the preferred terrain of the Porsche eBike Cross: Especially in difficult uphill terrain, Shimano’s powerful EP8 motor can show off its maximum performance and is supposed to convince with a natural riding feel. The Magura MT Trail disc brakes ensure optimum deceleration with brake discs optimized for e-bikes, while the Shimano XT shifting system guarantees fast gear changes depending on the demands and terrain. For a quickly adjustable seating position with maximum freedom of movement, the hydraulically adjustable Crankbrothers seatpost is installed. The new Fox 34 Performance suspension fork offers with 120 mm travel in conjunction with the Fox Float DPX shock with 100mm travel in the rear sensitive ride comfort and extends the range of use of the bike.
The new Porsche eBikes will be available from fall 2022 in three frame sizes, S (for approx. 1.56-1.70 m body height), M (for approx. 1.68-1.82 m body height) and L (for approx. 1.80-1.94 m body height) at Porsche Centers, on store.porsche.com and porsche-design.com as well as in selected Porsche Design stores. The weight of the Porsche eBike Sport (size M, including pedals) is 21.2 kg, and the MSRP is 10,900 euros. The weight of the Porsche eBike Cross (size M, including pedals) is 21.7 kg, with an MSRP of 8,900 euros. In terms of price, Porsche remains true to itself with the e-bikes and thus serves the luxury segment, as it already does with its automobiles. On the other hand, both bikes are probably the most affordable way to get a Porsche – and a sustainable one too 😉
