Urban bike news for 2021: Orbea’s new Carpe and Vector models

The e-bike is gaining more and more market share, but of course the “analog” bikes without a motor continue to receive updates. Orbea, for example: the Spanish are presenting their Carpe and Vector series in fresh new color combinations for the 2021 season!

The urban bikes of the Orbea Carpe series

The Carpe series is the slightly cheaper series in Orbea’s urban bike line-up. All models are equipped with a derailleur system with a front chainring and disc brakes. The saddle is from Velo, the tires are always 38 mm wide models from Kenda.

Four new color schemes are available, all of which are now high-gloss compared to their matt predecessors. In addition to Urban Green, Blue and Night Black, there is also a metallic color tone in Dark Red. The new models also come in several variations with colored rear wheel rims; while this — admittedly daring — combination worked quite well last year, the new models leave you a little perplexed. Fortunately, there is still enough choice of “uniform” colors with black rims. Prices range between 559 and 979 Euro:

  • Orbea Carpe 40: 7-speed derailleur gears Shimano TY-300, mechanical disc brakes Shimano TX805, 559 Euro
  • Orbea Carpe 20: 9-speed derailleur gears Shimano Altus M2000, hydraulic disc brakes Shimano MT201, 689 Euro

Furthermore there are two models with complete commuter equipment: SKS mudguards, racks and a lighting system from Spanninga with front wheel dynamo are already factory fitted:

  • Orbea Carpe 15: 9-speed derailleur gears Shimano Altus M2000, hydraulic disc brakes Shimano MT200, 779 Euro
  • Orbea Carpe 10: 10 speed derailleur gears Shimano Deore, hydraulic disc brakes Shimano MT200, 979 Euro

The urban bikes of the Orbea Vector series

The Vector series is Orbea’s multifunctional bicycle, which is impressive for its versatility. Vector is Orbea’s combination of lightness and durability and is designed to be just as suitable for the way to work as for an extra lap of the park. The frame colour scheme is the same as the Carpe models, but without the escapades of differently coloured rims. The Kenda tires are slightly narrower with 32 mm each, disc brakes, derailleur gears (with two chainrings in front) and a Selle Royal Asphalt GR saddle are standard equipment here. The prices are between 739 and 979 Euro:

  • Orbea Vector 30: 2×8 speed derailleur gears Shimano Claris, mechanical disc brakes Shimano TX805, 739 Euro
  • Orbea Vector 20: 2×9 speed derailleur gears Shimano Sora, hydraulic disc brakes Shimano MT200, 829 Euro
  • Orbea Vector 10: 2×10 speed derailleur gears Shimano Tiagra, hydraulic disc brakes Shimano MT200, 979 Euro

There is also a model with complete commuter equipment: SKS mudguards, racks and a lighting system from Spanninga with front wheel dynamo are already factory fitted:

  • Orbea Vector 15: 2×9 speed derailleur gears Shimano Sora, hydraulic disc brakes Shimano MT200, carbon fork, 999 Euro

Finally, the Vector bikes are also available in two models with racing handlebars — one with commuter equipment, the other very sporty without. Both have the light carbon fork in common, and they also roll on wider Schwalbe G-ONE Bite tires with a width of 40 mm and brown tire sidewall. Visually, these two wheels are certainly among the highlights of the new Vector line-up!

  • Orbea Vector Drop: 2×10 speed derailleur gears Shimano Tiagra, hydraulic disc brakes Shimano Tiagra, carbon fork and racing handlebars, 1.369 Euro
  • Orbea Vector Drop LTD: 2×10 speed derailleur gears Shimano Tiagra, hydraulic disc brakes Shimano Tiagra, carbon fork and racing handlebars as well as commuter equipment with mudguards, luggage rack and lights, 1.759 Euro
