Marin Larkspur and Muirwoods: retro bikes with steel frames

Slim and straight steel tubes are the basis for the current Larkspur and Muirwoods bikes from Marin. Stylistically, they have been inspired by classic mountain bikes, which were just as purist in their beginnings.

The Muirwoods is the diamond frame model, which is somewhat sportier with straight handlebars and 28″ wheels with 45 mm wide tires. In contrast, the Larkspur series offers more comfort: the handlebars are curved backwards and the tires in 27.5″ format are significantly wider at 60 mm. But the highlight is the unique comfort frame in Mixte style (actually an Anglaise frame)!

The Muirwoods is available in only one equipment variant and features the MicroSHIFT Advent X with 10 speeds. Thanks to a large cassette with 11-51 teeth, the spectrum of derailleur gears is contemporary large. Equally contemporary are the hydraulic disc brakes, here with the type M275 from Tektro.

Largely identical to the Muirwoods is the Larkspur 1 equipped. But there is also a Larkspur 2, which has the slightly higher quality Deore derailleur from Shimano with 11 speeds installed. In addition, the hydraulic disc brakes here are also from the Deore series.

At 849 Euros, the Marin Larkspur 1 is the cheapest of these three models. The Larkspur 2 costs 1,049 Euros and the Muirwoods should be priced in between (no exact retail price in Euros is available yet).
