Everything goes electric: Temple Cycles from England were previously known for their very classic, “analog” steel frame bikes, about which we have already postet here. But here, too, they have recognized the signs of the times and now brings with the Temple Electric their first e-bike series on the market!
And since we just mentioned the frame material: the new e-bikes are equipped with an aluminum frame and fork. Apart from that, however, the bikes fully comply with the style of the previous models: classic shapes, shiny silver parts and traditional brown saddles and handlebar grips also lead to the familiar look of Temple Cycles here.
The electronics of the bikes come from Bafang, so a 60 Nm strong mid drive motor of the type M420 is installed here. The battery has a capacity of 500 Wh, comes from Samsung and is removable. Thus, this can be charged independently of the bike, for example, comfortably in the apartment. To operate the drive system, there is a small display on the handlebars, with which five support levels can be selected and which also displays information such as speed or the remaining battery capacity.
The shifting comes from Shimano, it is an Altus derailleur with 9 gears. Nothing spectacular, but in conjunction with the relatively strong motor certainly sufficient for urban use. Because that’s exactly what the Temple Electric is designed for and should offer a relaxed ride thanks to the upright seating position.
As tires the Panaracer Pasela with 38 mm width are mounted and mudguards are installed as standard. Hydraulic disc brakes (Shimano MT-200) and a lighting system — consisting of 40 lux bright headlight, taillight and brightness sensor — complete the full equipment.
In addition to the Classic Electric with diamond frame (in two sizes), there is also the Step Through Electric with a comfort frame (in one size). Both variants are available in two colors, namely blue and black. The price for the new Temple Electric bikes is 3,185 British pounds, with an additional 170 pounds for EU delivery. In total, the bike costs around 3,900 euros in the EU. Fortunately, since Temple pre-produces the bikes in batches, delivery should currently only take about a week.
