Serial 1 — the ebike brand of motorcycle legend Harley-Davidson — has unveiled its second generation of /CTY ebikes, which are now equipped with Google Cloud connectivity and are designed to enhance the ebike experience even further. Developed in collaboration with Google Cloud, the new connectivity features capture key ride data, are designed to significantly improve safety and make it easier than ever to enjoy every ride.

With app-driven safety features, turn-by-turn navigation using the Google Maps platform, and real-time ride data collected directly from the eBike, the Serial 1 App is the perfect riding assistant for your Serial 1 ebike. The new connectivity features include:

  • Built-in digital security with pinpoint accuracy: Serial 1’s pinpoint mode gives customers the ability to precisely track, monitor and digitally lock their bike wherever it is.
  • Route planning and turn-by-turn navigation: By integrating up-to-date turn-by-turn navigation data from the Google Maps platform, Serial 1 app users can conveniently plan the best bike-specific routes — including local bike lanes, bike paths and bike trails.
  • Real-time trip data dashboard: From speed to efficiency, from distance to battery range — every detail of the trip is available at the touch of a button. You also get a summary after each completed trip and can compare trip and performance data over time.
  • Integrated charger: New this year, all Serial 1 /CTY e-bikes are equipped with an integrated USB-C charging cable located under the handlebar stem to power a cell phone and use the Serial 1 app.

In addition to cloud-based data management, Serial 1’s next-generation /CTY platform is equipped with advanced connectivity hardware to ensure reliable connectivity. An integrated Internet-of-Things (IoT) device enables connectivity not only via Bluetooth wireless technology, but also via cellular data and/or GPS to ensure you can reliably access your bike even when it’s not in your line of sight.

All the new features are accessed via Serial 1’s app, which is offered for Apple’s iOS devices and those with Android operating systems. Users of Serial 1 bikes from the first generation only have access to the navigation function, all other innovations are only available with the new bike generation.

Aside from these new connectivity features and the USB-C port, the hardware of the new model generation is largely the same as the previous bikes – though there are some new color options for the bikes.

The line-up continues to include the radical MOSH/CTY with singlespeed drive, which we have already tested here. The RUSH/CTY and RUSH/CTY STEP-THRU models with continuously variable Enviolo automatic transmission, mudguards and luggage rack, on the other hand, offer more everyday utility. As a motor, the powerful Brose S-MAG with 90 Nm torque is installed on all bikes and instead of a conventional bicycle chain, the Gates Carbon Drive timing belt is used. The new models are to be available immediately from Serial 1 dealers worldwide.
