By now the word is out: the bicycle market will continue to experience high demand worldwide in 2021, causing massive bottlenecks in the international supply chains and not infrequently also empty warehouses at dealers. And there is no sign of this changing in 2022 either. The start-upmyvélo is a little more independent — its sporty e-bikes with urban chic are produced in the Black Forest. The advantage is that they are less dependent on international bottlenecks and can react more flexibly. Short distances and networks with local businesses are particularly important to the founders. “This is not only more sustainable, but also makes it easier for us to ensure the quality of our bikes,” says Managing Director Fabian Huber. “Our home of the Black Forest offers us ideal conditions for this.”

Quality, design and fair prices

But it is not only production that is important, design and quality should also be convincing: myvèlo wants to offer e-bikes that are both fun to ride and at the same time solid companions for everyday use. In addition, there is a chic look paired with affordable prices. “We want to show that high-quality e-bikes can be produced in Germany,” says Fabian Huber. In the region’s medium-sized but highly technological economy, they have found suppliers with whom this claim can be realised. That is why the two founders can proudly offer their e-bikes as quality “Made in Black Forrest”.

The founding of myvélo is also the fulfilment of a long-time dream of the two entrepreneurs Fabian Huber and Vincent Augustin — born on extensive cycling trips. The two ambitious cycling amateurs have spent thousands of kilometres in the saddle in their free time and have competed for victories in the national road cycling league for the Rothaus Cycling Team. So the two of them know exactly what’s important when it comes to bicycles. What could be more natural than to use their experience to build high-quality and sporty e-bikes?

Trekking e-bikes with comfort and power

The Milano and Ibiza trekking e-bikes are perfect for extended tours. Equipped with wide 27.5 inch Super Moto-X balloon tyres from Schwalbe, they feel comfortable on almost any surface, whether on long gravel roads, muddy forest paths or asphalt. The Shimano Steps mid-motor provides the necessary power – depending on the model, the Steps E 8000 with 75 Nm or the Steps E 6100 with 60 Nm is used. A well-balanced frame geometry is designed to ensure safe handling, with the Milano featuring the classic diamond frame and the Ibiza a comfortable low-slung frame. All models are equipped with hydraulic disc brakes, LED lights, mudguards and a lightweight luggage rack developed in-house for added safety and comfort. This means that the bikes can be used not only in leisure time but also in everyday life.

E-MTBs with sportiness and agility

For those who like to ride off the beaten track, myvélo offers the E-MTB models Himalaya, Palermo and Denver. These are all lightweight hardtails with a balanced geometry and – depending on the model – a lightweight rigid fork or comfortable air suspension for safe handling and sporty riding characteristics. Shimano’s mid-mounted motor is also used here, depending on the model in the form of the Steps E8000 (70 Nm) or the new and even more powerful Steps EP8 (85 Nm). Even particularly steep uphill sections are no obstacle! The brake and shift cables are routed in the frame, which protects them from dirt and water and also gives the bikes a tidy look.

Equipped models with comprehensive features

The Equipped versions of the Himalaya and Palermo models make the E-MTBs even more suitable for everyday use. They add an extra portion of utility to the aforementioned MTB characteristics, making these SUVs among the myvélo bikes just as good for bikepacking as they are for daily commuting. They owe their sporty genes to the technology and frame geometry of the models that give them their name. Added to this are a lightweight luggage rack, robust mudguards and a powerful lighting system from Busch+Müller that offers a light output of 70 lux and always ensures sufficient visibility thanks to the integrated daylight function.

E-folding bikes with high utility value

The electric folding bikes were the first models from myvélo – and today the practical folding bikes are still an integral part of the programme. Lightweight, easy-to-use folding bikes that are suitable for campers thanks to their compact folding dimensions, but can also be used as a fully-fledged bicycle in everyday life. The current line-up includes the Rio and Palma e-folding bikes, which rely on their proven folding mechanism. A new feature is the rear wheel hub motor in combination with a battery of the latest generation. The wide 20-inch tyres are designed to ensure a high level of comfort and puncture resistance. And because the models can be folded into a small package in a few easy steps, they also fit into almost any motorhome.
