Riese & Müller news for 2027: cargo bike updates and a brand-new urban bike

The start of Eurobike traditionally marks the launch of new models for the coming season. Riese & Müller is also making the most of this occasion, even though the brand is not exhibiting at the trade fair this year. Instead, the new models will be presented as part of the company’s own Campus Days at its headquarters in Mühltal. The focus is on several revamped cargo bikes, as well as the Veya – a completely new urban bike range

Carrie2 and Load: improvements for cargo bikes

When it comes to cargo bikes, Riese & Müller is focusing on further developing its existing models. The compact Carrie2will, for the first time, also be available as an S-Pedelec. This new version combines the Bosch Performance Line CX Speed motor with an 800 Wh battery. The model is therefore aimed primarily at commuters who wish to combine larger transport loads with higher average speeds.

In addition, the Carrie2 is getting a new version designed for family use, as well as various technical updates. An adjusted steering angle is intended to improve handling, whilst optional features such as the Magura IBS braking system or a suspension dropper seatpost enhance comfort. ‘Denim’ is also being added to the range as a further colour option.

Pinion’s Motor-Gearbox Unit (MGU) is now also available in the Load series

The Load range is also being expanded. For the first time, the cargo bike will be available as the Load 60 and Load 75, equipped with the Pinion MGU motor-gear unit. The Pinion MGU 7.12 is used in conjunction with an 800 Wh battery. Those who require particularly long ranges can even combine the system with a second 800 Wh battery. The combination of motor and integrated gearbox promises low maintenance, a wide range of gear ratios and smooth gear changes even under load or when stationary – features that are particularly advantageous in everyday cargo use.

Multicharger4 is growing almost everywhere

The revamp of the Multicharger is considerably more extensive. The fourth generation of the mid-tail bike remains true to the existing design, but is set to improve in almost every key area. The maximum permissible weight has increased to 200 kilograms, whilst the extended rear rack will now be able to carry up to 80 kilograms. Despite the increased load capacity, the bike remains comparatively compact, measuring just under two metres in length. Another new feature is a standardised frame design with a lowered top tube, which is intended to make it easier to mount the bike.

In addition, Riese & Müller has introduced a new adjustable stem. This allows for more flexible adjustment of the riding position whilst also incorporating an SP-Connect+ interface for smartphones. The cockpit can be supplemented, if desired, with a tiltable display mount, and a new two-legged kickstand is designed to improve stability when loading and unloading.

The range of drive systems extends from the Bosch Performance Line PX through the Performance Line CX to the Cargo Line Speed. There are also various gear options, ranging from the Nexus hub gear system to the Rohloff E-14. Energy is stored in Bosch’s PowerTube with a capacity of 800 Wh, which can be supplemented with an additional 800 Wh battery as an option. This brings the total capacity up to an impressive 1,600 Wh. Prices are set to start at 4,999 euros.

Veya: the new urban bike from Riese & Müller

The most exciting new release goes by the name of Veya. Behind this new model range lies a comparatively lightweight and versatile e-bike which, depending on its specifications, is designed to serve as an urban bike, a commuter bike, a touring bike or an S-Pedelec. In its lightest version, the Veya is set to weigh under 20 kilograms and will be available in both a classic diamond frame and a low-step frame.

There are four different drive configurations available. The range extends from the Bosch Performance Line SX for the particularly lightweight version, through the PX and CX, to the Bosch Performance Line Speed. Depending on the model, either derailleur gears or hub gears from Shimano and Enviolo are used. Whilst most versions come as standard with the new PowerTube 360 battery, which has a modest capacity of 360 Wh, a 600 Wh battery is also available as an alternative. The S-Pedelec comes with the larger battery as standard. In addition, the Bosch PowerMore range extender can be retrofitted to provide a further 250 Wh.

A rear rack is included as standard; optional extras include a MIK HD luggage rack, a comfort pack or a suspension upgrade featuring a suspension fork and a suspension seat post. All models come with the Bosch Purion 200 display as standard, but can alternatively be fitted with Kiox displays or the new, particularly compact LED Controller.

With the ‘Open’ version, the Veya is also available as a step-through design.

The Veya is also interesting in the context of the current model range. The Roadster, which has been on the market for years, is now looking a little dated. At the same time, the future of the UBN series is likely to be increasingly uncertain following the withdrawal of Fazua as a drivetrain partner. Against this backdrop, the Veya appears to be a potential successor to two previously separate product lines. It combines the sporty, urban focus of the Roadster with the lightweight design philosophy of the UBN models and could therefore play a central role in Riese & Müller’s urban segment in future.
