Mostly it was like this: a bike company had a popular bike and then additionally released this model as an e-bike as well. But Rose now shows that this also works in the other direction with the Sneak: Started as a slim and lightweight e-bike Rose Sneak Plus, the bike is now also available as an “analog” bike without a motor and is simply called Rose Sneak.
Lighter, sleeker, sportier: the new Rose Sneak
The design of the bike already shows the relationship of both model series at first glance, but the Sneak is of course a bit slimmer — no battery has to be installed in the down tube. The difference is even more obvious on the scales: with a weight of between 9.6 and 10.6 kg, the Sneak is significantly lighter.
So it’s no wonder that Rose is positioning the new model as an urban fitness bike that can also be used for sporty after-work rides. Accordingly, the bike is not available in an EQ version with mudguards and lights, as we know from the Sneak Plus. Instead, the Sneak models come with shifting groups, which we know more from the gravel area, as well as the 40 mm wide tires of the type Schwalbe G-One.
With the Sneak 1, Sneak 2 and Sneak 3 variants, Rose offers three trims:
- Rose Sneak 1: The most affordable Sneak with Shimano’s new CUES circuit and 2×11 gears. Stem and handlebars are separate components, the handlebars are bent upwards a bit more comfortable as risers. The weight is 10.5 kg, the price is 1,399 euros.
- Rose Sneak 2: The mid-range model comes with Shimano’s GRX gears and also 2×11 gears. Stem and handlebar are one-piece and made of carbon, as is the seatpost made of carbon. At the stem is a holder for the SP Connect system attached, with which the smartphone can be attached. The weight is 9.6 kg, the price is 1,799 euros.
- Rose Sneak 3: The top model is similar to the Sneak 2, but comes with brakes and gears from SRAM. The latter is the electric Rival XPLR eTap AXS with 1×12 gears. The weight is 9.5 kg, the price is 2,599 euros.
In addition to the typical diamond frame in the colors Chalk or Faded Denim, the new Sneak is also available as a comfort frame in trapezoid shape, then with the name addition MidStep, here also in the color Chalk or in Light Mint.
The new bikes can be ordered now via the Rose website, where you can also find more information about the individual models.
