For gravel, everyday use and everything in between: the new Moustache Dimanche e-bikes

The Dimanche has long been part of Moustache’s line-up for particularly sporty and lightweight e-bikes for road, gravel and urban use. And the new release of this classic impressively shows that this is not going to change any time soon!

Just one of many new models: the Dimanche Gravel 29.4 from Moustache

The completely redesigned model now relies on Bosch’s new Performace Line SX motor, which is particularly light at just under 4 kg including the battery and is also slightly smaller in size. There is no need to worry about having enough power: a torque of 55 Nm and up to 600 watts of power always provide enough support for the bike’s intended use. An interesting feature is the integration of the motor in the frame, where Moustache has gone its own way. The Bosch unit is installed vertically, which allows the down tube to have straight lines all the way to the bottom bracket.

The battery with 400 Wh capacity is permanently installed in the down tube itself, with the option of connecting the PowerMore range extender battery with 250 Wh. However, if you want to charge the bike, you have to move it close to a power socket. But this integration also has its advantages: the battery has been positioned as low as possible in the frame, which enables a low centre of gravity. This is a particularly relevant point for sporty use.

The same applies to the weight, although Moustache has the whole package in mind here. Although the top model Dimanche 28.6 Road is very light at under 16 kg, the new bikes do not compromise on durability, stability and comfort. Want an example? The frame is made of robust aluminium, the rims and add-on parts are also designed to withstand high loads — and then there are special features such as the specially designed handlebars or a brand new suspension stem.

Sporty and yet suitable for everyday use: Suspension stem and commuter equipment

The “Antishock” stem offers between 10 and 20 mm of suspension travel and can be adapted to your personal riding position and weight via adjustable preload and interchangeable elastomers. The sprung dropper seatpost, which is fitted to the Gravel models, also offers additional comfort.

For the widest possible range of use between gravel, everyday use and everything in between, Moustache also offers the new models in an EQ (Equipped) version, which includes mudguards and bag holders in addition to a fully-fledged lighting system. The entry-level model is also available with straight “flatbar” handlebars instead of the usual racebar or gravel handlebars. But that’s not all: in addition to the version with a high top tube, there is also a comfort frame with the suffix “Open” in a trapezoidal shape!

2.4 and 6 for Road and Gravel: three equipment variants for two model ranges

To make the whole thing a little clearer, we have summarised all the variants here. A basic distinction can be made between the Race and Gravel models. All Road models are equipped with road tyres, none of the Race models are available with the EQ equipment and there is no dropper seatpost.

Dimanche 2: the affordable bike with straight handlebars

  • Moustache Dimanche 28 Road 2 ans Dimanche 28 Road 2 Open: The entry-level model from the Road series comes with the Bosch Purion 200 display, which elegantly combines a button with a compact display. The gears are Shimano Cues 6000 with 10 gears. The MT200 brake system also comes from Shimano. The Continental Contact Speed tyres are 42 mm wide, the stem on this model has suspension and we find the straight flatbar handlebars here. At 3,599 euros, this is the cheapest bike in the new series, and the colour is Sand Storm matt.
  • Moustache Dimanche 29 Gravel 2 and Dimanche 29 Gravel 2 Open: The Gravel version has the same drivetrain as the 2 Series Road model, but the Maxxis Rambler tyres are 50 mm wide. In addition to the stem, the seatpost is also suspended and here too we find the straight flatbar handlebars. At 3,699 euros, the Gravel version is only slightly more expensive, and the color here is also Sand Storm matt.
  • Moustache Dimanche 29 Gravel 2 EQ and Dimanche 29 Gravel 2 Open EQ : Identical to the 2 Series Gravel version, but with the addition of the Commuter equipment: a Trelock Lighthammer headlight with 80 lux and a rear light from Spanninga. There are also sturdy mudguards, a pannier rack and a bike stand. At 3,899 euros, the surcharge for this additional equipment is moderate, and the color Sand Storm matt is also available.

Dimanche 4: upper mid-range with dropbar handlebars

  • Moustache Dimanche 28 Road 4 and Dimanche 28 Road 4 Open: The mid-range of the Road series comes with the Bosch Kiox 300 display, which is positioned in the centre of the drop bar handlebar. The SRAM Apex XPLR gear system with 12 gears is installed here. The Apex brake system is also from SRAM. The Schwalbe Pro One tyres are much narrower at 34 mm and the stem is not suspended on this model. The bike costs 4,599 euros and comes in Pebble Grey Glossy.
  • Moustache Dimanche 29 Gravel 4 and Dimanche 29 Gravel 4 Open: Here again, the gravel version has the same drivetrain as the 4 Series Road model, but the Maxxis Rambler tyres are 50 mm wide. In addition to the stem, the seat post also has suspension. At 4,699 euros, the Gravel version is only slightly more expensive, and the colour Pebble Grey Glossy is also available.
  • Moustache Dimanche 29 Gravel 4 EQ and Dimanche 29 Gravel 4 Open EQ: Identical to the 4 Series Gravel version, but with the addition of the Commuter equipment: a Trelock Lighthammer headlight with 80 lux and a rear light from Spanninga. There are also sturdy mudguards, pannier holders and a bike stand. At 4,899 euros, the extra charge for this additional equipment is moderate. The colour Pebble Grey Glossy is also available here.

Dimanche 6: the most sporty and lightest top models

  • Moustache Dimanche 28 Road 6: The top model of the Road series is only available with a diamond frame, the “Open” version is omitted here, as is an optional EQ version. Bosch’s Kiox 300 display is also installed here, centrally positioned in the centre of the drop bar handlebars. The gears are the electronic SRAM Apex XPLR AXS with 12 gears. The Schwalbe Pro One tyres are 34 mm narrow and the wheelset is made of lightweight carbon. The bike costs a hefty 5,999 euros and comes in Green Glossy.
  • Moustache Dimanche 29 Gravel 6: In contrast to the 6er Road model, the electronic SRAM X1 AXS with 12 gears is used here. The Maxxis Rambler tyres are 50 mm wide and the stem and dropper seatpost are suspended. At 5,699 euros, the gravel version is even cheaper, which is due to the aluminium wheelset. The colour here is also Green Glossy.

Conclusion

As extensive as the new line-up of the Dimanche model series is, as versatile are the bikes equipped for a wide variety of uses. In particular, the affordable models in the 2 Series trim level are likely to appeal to many commuters as sporty urban bikes, not least thanks to the flatbar handlebars. However, the 4 Series variants are also attractive, which skilfully combine sportiness and suitability for everyday use, especially in the EQ variant. It’s also great that Moustache also offers a trapezoidal frame with racing handlebars, which is unfortunately all too rare. If you want to push the limits, however, you can opt for the 6-series models — but you’ll have to dig deeper into your pockets.

All bikes are now available in up to four frame sizes. More information on the new Dimanche is also available directly on the Moustache website.
