Just recently, the French brand Moustache launched its Moustache J, a versatile everyday SUV bike with full suspension and a new type of cast frame that is 100% made in France. The brand new Moustache Mardi 27 now addresses a very similar target group: it is also equipped with a unisex comfort frame, offers suspension and mainly uses components from European production — but is more affordable!

Everyday SUV bike for everyone

With its comfort frame and low step-through, the new model in Moustache’s line-up is said to be particularly easy to handle, which is especially beneficial for urban rides where people tend to get on and off the bike more often. The unisex frame is available in three different sizes and should be suitable for people between 1.49 m and 1.90 m tall.

The drivetrain of the Mardi 27 is also designed for urban use: instead of derailleur gears, all models are equipped with a maintenance-free transmission. Depending on the model variant, with the Shimano Nexus 5 hub gears with a conventional bicycle chain or the continuously variable Enviolo gears in conjunction with a belt drive from Gates.

It’s not just the fat tires from Schwalbe’s Super Moto-X series with a width of 58 mm that should provide extra comfort — the Mardi 27 is also equipped with a suspension fork at the front and a suspension seat post with 40 mm travel. The desired riding position can also be individually adjusted thanks to an adjustable stem.

Always on board: the new Smart System from Bosch

As always at Moustache, the Bosch system is used for the electric drive. The regular Performance Line motor is used here, which represents a good compromise between powerful performance with 75 Nm and quiet operation. Incidentally, this is the newer version that supports the Bosch Smart System. Accordingly, the Mardi 27 also features the latest components of the system: depending on the model variant, the PowerTube battery with 625 Wh or 500 Wh is used, which is always installed in the down tube and can be removed for convenient charging. The drive is controlled using the new Purion 200 display/button combination, and the Smartphone Grip for attaching your own smartphone is also installed on the top model. The top model also features the Bosch Connect Module (BCM) with eBike Alarm, which can be used to locate the bike via smartphone using GPS.

To ensure that the Mardi 27 is well equipped for all everyday tasks, the bike is fitted with mudguards, a kickstand and a lighting system with rear light and a headlight from AXA. The frame lock on the rear wheel also comes from AXA, and the bike features a sturdy rear rack with a removable QL3 attachment on the side and a MIK HD platform.
