Lightweight from just 13.9 kg!

Cube Nulane Hybrid C:62: Sporty urban e-bikes with a lightweight carbon frame

Cube already introduced ultra-light gravel e-bikes this year with the Nuroad Hybrid models, which also perform well as fast urban bikes thanks to the optional commuter equipment. So it was almost obvious that Cube would now add another model series with straight flatbar handlebars on this basis. This is called the Nulane Hybrid C:62, with the C:62 referring to the type of carbon from which the frame and fork of the bikes are made.

The drive system here also comes from Bosch’s SX line: the lightweight and fairly compact (at least by Bosch standards) mid-drive motor offers 55 Nm of torque and is powered by the CompactTube 400 battery with 400 Wh capacity, which weighs around 2 kg. The battery is permanently installed in the down tube, so it cannot be removed for charging. However, the system can be extended with the range extender — the bottle-sized PowerMore 250. With 250 Wh extra capacity, this 1.6 kg additional battery extends the range by 60 percent in the case of the CompactTube 400 battery. It is operated via the system controller on the top tube and the handy mini remote button is mounted on the handlebars.

The new Cube Nulane Hybrid is available in two model series, which differ primarily in terms of gearing and display:

  • Nulane Hybrid C:62 SLX 400X: electronic Sram Apex XPLR AXS gear system with 12 gears, control unit with display. Color nebula’n’blue, weight 13.9 kg.
  • Nulane Hybrid C:62 Race 400X: mechanical Shimano Cues RD-U4000-GS gear system with 9 gears, cockpit without display. Color sagebrushgreen’n’prism, weight 14.6 kg.

Both models are also available in an FE version. This transforms them into fully-fledged commuter bikes with mudguards, lighting set, pannier rack and practical kickstand. In keeping with the sporty look of the bike, the luggage rack is visually restrained, but can accommodate two panniers. The lighting is powered by the bike’s main battery and consists of the PRO-E 150 headlight from Cube’s own brand Acid, which also provides the rear light integrated into the mudguard.

  • Nulane Hybrid C:62 SLX FE 400X: electronic Sram Apex XPLR AXS gear system with 12 gears, control unit with display. Color nebula’n’blue, weight 15.5 kg.
  • Nulane Hybrid C:62 Race 400X: mechanical Shimano Cues RD-U4000-GS gear system with 9 gears, cockpit without display. Color sagebrushgreen’n’prism, weight 16.1 kg.

Prices start at 2,999 euros for the Nulane Hybrid C:62 Race 400X, with the FE version costing just 200 euros extra and thus coming in at 3,199 euros. The Nulane Hybrid C:62 SLX 400X, on the other hand, costs 3,999 euros, with the FE version coming in at 4,199 euros. All bikes are available exclusively with a diamond frame and in five sizes.
