Last year, Temple Cycles caused a stir with their first electric bike, the Temple Electric. As is typical for Temple’s models, this one also comes with a classic look — but the frame here is made of aluminum. Unusual, since they otherwise only use the traditional steel material. However, the latest model series proves that this is more of an exception.
Metro is the name of the new bikes from Temple and build (again) on a wonderfully delicate steel frame. Electric components you look here in vain, by the way, in the Metro series it is namely quite classic bikes.
The equipment is aimed at commuters, which can also be seen in the standard mudguards and 35 mm wide tires. In addition, the bikes can be ordered with optional practical equipment such as bike racks, luggage racks (front and rear) and lighting.
In terms of drive train, the bike is available as a Metro Single Speed without any gears at all. Less puristic is the Metro Three Speed, which is equipped with a 3-speed hub gear from the Nexus series from Shimano. The type of drive makes little difference to the weight: the singlespeed model weighs 11 kg, while the bike with gears is only slightly heavier at 11.3 kg.
Both models are available in the colors Matte Black and Stone Blue, interested parties can choose from three frame sizes. However, one is fixed on the diamond frame shape, a comfort frame with a lower entry is not (yet) available in the Metro models.
The prices are pleasing, which are around 590 euros for the singlespeed model and around 640 euros for the bike with hub gears. As mentioned, the bikes can be customized with some options in the equipment when ordering. More information is available directly on the Temple Cycles website.
