Just in October we had reported about the very light, 12 kg carbon urban bike from LeMond here. At that time there was no exact information about prices, final color variations and delivery times — but that has changed in the meantime. So now the two models Prolog with diamond frame and Dutch with comfort frame can be configured and pre-ordered on the website.
The LeMond Prolog is available in three frame sizes and in the colors black, white and pink(!). It is powered by the Mahle X35+ system with a hub motor in the rear wheel and a permanently installed battery with a capacity of almost 250 Wh. In addition to the use of carbon on the frame, fork, stem and handlebars, the integrated lighting system is also worth mentioning.
The basic price for this model is a respectable 4,700 euros, which can be increased without any problems: For 800 Euro more, you can upgrade the 11-speed gears from Shimano’s GRX series to the electronically shifted GRX Di2 version, and for a whole 1,800 Euro more you get a carbon wheelset. This should be even lighter and comes with a lifetime warranty.
The carbon mudguards, which are currently included free of charge, should be of interest to commuters. Racks for front and rear are 185 Euro extra each, and these are also made of carbon. Finally, a range extender with an additional battery capacity of 160 Wh can be ordered — we already know this from other bikes with the X35 drive system. For those who want to go to the top in terms of additional options, the LeMond Prolog brings the total price to whopping 8,370 euros!
The comfort-oriented and technically identical LeMond Dutch with trapezoidal frame can be configured in a largely similar way: Here too, there are three frame sizes, but the color palette consists of mint, black and pink. The basic price and options are identical to those of the Prologue, with the exception that the two racks for the front and rear are currently offered at half price and cost 92.50 euros each.
While the LeMond Prologue will be shipped in January 2021, the delivery of the Dutch will start in February 2021. Note that another 200 Euro will be charged for shipping. As attractive as the electric urban bikes from LeMond are — it will not be a cheap pleasure to ride one of these bikes. All information and configuration options can be found on the LeMond website.
