Affordable all-rounder from Decathlon: the E-ACTV 500 HF e-bike for under 2,000 euros

Back in spring, Decathlon presented the Rockrider E-ACTV 500 LF — an attractive e-bike for city and trekking that scores with an even more attractive price of 1,999 euros (we introduced the bike in detail in this article). The LF in the name stands for Low Frame, which in this case describes the low step-through frame shape. Even back then, a diamond frame version with a high top tube was promised, which is now actually available!

Accordingly, the new model is now na the Rockrider E-ACTV 500 HF (High Frame) and offers a very attractive design also in this version. The dark green paintwork and brown cork handlebar grips give the bike a rather elegant look. In technical terms, however, the bike is similar to its sister model with a comfort frame and can also boast the tried-and-tested mid-motor from Yamaha, which offers a torque of 55 Nm. Certainly enough to get around town and on excursions! The battery also offers a reasonable capacity of 504 Wh and is removable for easy handling when charging.

A compact button and a display are installed on the handlebars to control the electric drive. The gear lever for the 8-speed derailleur is also located there; this is from MicroShift. Incidentally, the bike weighs 24.7 kg when ready to ride. Not light, but considering the equipment and the price, this is perfectly acceptable.

The equipment of the Rockrider E-ACTV 500 HF also leaves nothing to be desired: it includes mudguards, an integrated lighting system with rear light in the mudguard and a kickstand. The Suntour SF15 NEX-E25 suspension fork at the front offers 63 mm of travel, and the stem can also be adjusted in height. The bike is slowed down by Tektro branded hydraulic disc brakes, while the tyres are from Decathlon’s own brand, are 47 mm wide and offer puncture protection. Thanks to possible connectivity with the free Decathlon Ride app, statistics and details such as distance, route, support modes used and other performance data can also be called up.

Only a rear rack is not standard — however, Decathlon now offers a custom-fit model for both E-ACTV bikes. This has a high load capacity of 27 kg and is also compatible with the popular MIK HD system. This means that child seats and crates can be attached to the carrier with a simple click.

With three frame sizes from M to XL, the bike is designed to be suitable for riders between 1.66 m and 2.01 m tall, who will need to invest very little to buy the Rockrider E-ACTV 500 HF: at just 1,999 euros, this e-bike is a pretty good deal! The bike can be ordered directly here on Decathlon’s website and can be delivered directly to your home or to your nearest Decathlon shop.
