AGO Performance: Tenways step-through e-bike with Bosch motor

Hardly any other manufacturer has unveiled as many new models this year as Tenways. And following the recent launch of the AGO Compact, which marked the first time a model with a Bosch drive has been added to the range, the next step is now here. The new AGO Performance takes exactly this approach, but implements it in a classic format: as a standard-sized step-through e-bike clearly designed for everyday use.

In terms of design, Tenways remains true to its clean lines. The frame, with internally routed cables, creates a clean and almost understated look that elegantly integrates functional aspects such as the protection of sensitive components. At the same time, the design plays a role in the bike’s handling: 29-inch wheels and a suspension fork with a lockout function should provide a smooth ride and stability, particularly over longer distances or on varied terrain. The low-step frame makes the bike easier to handle, appealing to as wide an audience as possible. Details such as the discreetly integrated rear light also blend seamlessly into the overall design.

Electric drive with continuously variable transmission and a belt drive

At the heart of the e-bike is Bosch’s Performance Line mid-drive motor, which delivers smooth and controlled assistance with a peak power output of up to 600 watts and 75 Nm of torque. The motor is tuned less for sporty bursts of speed and more for smooth, easily modulated acceleration and a stable riding experience in a wide variety of situations – we’ve already tested this motor here in the Canyon Citylite:ON, for example. The system is controlled via the Bosch Kiox 300 display in conjunction with the LED Remote, allowing all relevant ride data to be clearly displayed and intuitively accessed. Power is supplied by an integrated 540 Wh battery in the down tube, which can be removed from the bike by pulling it downwards for charging.

When it comes to its specifications, the AGO Performance also prioritises components that emphasise comfort and low-maintenance operation. The combination of Enviolo internal gear hubs and Gates belt drives ensures a quiet, clean drivetrain without the typical wear and tear associated with chains. The continuously variable gear ratio allows for fine-tuning of the cadence and can even be shifted whilst stationary – a feature that quickly becomes second nature, particularly in city traffic. The package is complemented by Shimano hydraulic disc brakes, a suspension fork and an ergonomic saddle from Selle Royal. No less relevant for everyday use is the standard MIK-HD luggage rack, which can handle a load of up to 27 kilograms and offers a wide range of expansion options. According to the manufacturer, the bike itself has a total weight of 29.5 kg, placing it at the upper end of the scale.

Price and availability

Priced at 3,299 euros, the AGO Performance is positioned in the mid-range segment of high-quality e-bikes – so, compared to other bikes in the brand’s own range, there is a premium to pay for Bosch’s electric drive system. As for colours, prospective buyers can choose between glossy Walnut Brown and matt Mineral Blue. Orders can be placed directly here via the Tenways website – and there is also a discount of 200 euros available during the first two weeks.
