A new start for Hovding: the innovative bicycle airbag is returning

After completely withdrawing from the market at the end of 2023, Hövding is now back with new ownership, new management and a revamped product. The traditional brand for the well-known bicycle airbag helmet has been part of the Austrian iSi Group, an international company specialising in airbag and safety solutions, since spring 2025. With this takeover, Hövding not only wants to regain trust, but also consistently rectify the technical weaknesses of previous models. Earlier models of the airbag helmet were repeatedly criticised for false triggering.

New start under the leadership of iSi Group

A new start with Hövding 4

The relaunch is centred around the presentation of the Hövding 4. According to the company, the new model has been revised in key areas — in particular, the sensor technology responsible for detecting falls is now set to work even more precisely. Improved algorithms and modernised motion sensors help to prevent malfunctions and further reduce airbag deployment times. The aim is to ensure head and neck protection in accident situations more reliably than ever before.

The Hövding 4 is scheduled for mid-2026

Availability

The all-new Hövding 4 will officially be available from mid-2026. The company has not yet published full prices. However, it is clear that high quality standards will apply under the new management. In addition, existing Hövding 3 users will be offered a transition to the latest version at a favourable price — we had already reviewed it in detail here.
