As in the previous year, Schindelhauer is also launching a summer edition in 2020. And just like last year it has to be said that the bikes are already sold out online — however, it should still be possible to buy one or the other model from specialist dealers! While in 2019 the classics Lotte, Ludwig, Frieda and Friedrich were part of the Summer Edition, in 2020 the two cheaper bikes Greta and Gustav will be available.
Both are based on the 2020 model, with minor changes: For example, all Greta and Gustav models now use a Lumotec Eyc N Plus headlamp mounted on top of the mudguard. Before that the headlight was integrated in the mudguard. The reason for this might be that now more stable aluminium profile mudguards of the type Apollo from Curana are used. And there was also an improvement in the brakes: Since 2020 the disc brakes are now hydraulic from Shimano’s MT200 series. Apart from that, both have a special feature: the front carrier which is firmly attached to the frame and have quite wide tyres for high riding comfort.
But now to the actual novelties of the summer edition: On the one hand, there are two special colours, garnet red and ice blue, and on the other hand, there are new options for the gear system. While the regular models are optionally equipped with a 2-speed Automatix hub gear or an 8-speed hub gear (Shimano Nexus), the Summer Edition is now available with a 7-speed hub gear (Shimano Nexus) or the top model of the Shimano Alfine series with 11 gears! The former models are only available in garnet red, the latter in ice blue. As always at Schindelhauer, the drive is combined with the Gates Carbon Drive belt.
If you still find one of the models, you should have 1,450 Euros for the red 7-speed model and 1,795 Euros for the blue 11-speed model. Further information about the wheels can be found on the Schindelhauer website.
