Look sees the new series of Geo Trekking pedals, equipped with a flat and a click pedal side, as the new standard among hybrid pedals. This allows the pedals to be used in a variety of ways, which should be particularly useful for ambitious commuters: for long distances, efficient clipless pedals can be used with suitable footwear, while for short journeys in between, simply use the flat pedal side. Equally interesting, of course, for all those who use their urban bike for fitness purposes as well and can therefore switch seamlessly between sport and normal mode.
The click pedal side is based on a mechanism according to the Micro-Cleat standard, compatible with the well-known SPD system. This mechanism is designed to allow easy and safe insertion and removal. The weight of the pedal loves at 203 g per piece, the pair with cleats/shoe plates then weighs a total of 461 g.
The new Geo Trekking Vision pedals are also available for more safety on the road. Technically these correspond to the regular Geo Trekking models, but also have red lighting. Although this is only fitted on one side of each pedal, it is always visible due to the rotating pedal movement. In addition to parking light, there are also two flashing modes, the running time is supposed to be up to 30 hours in eco mode. The integrated battery is charged via a micro-USB port – and this is probably easiest via an external power bank. This additional equipment is hardly noticeable in terms of weight: the pedal pair with cleats/shoe plates is only 29 g heavier at 490 g than without the lighting.
The Look Geo Trekking pedals in a set of 2 are priced at 60 Euros, the Geo Trekking Vision pedals with light cost around 100 Euros. All further information can be found on the Look website.
