Brompton has combined its larger folding bike with Japanese outdoor design: in collaboration with And Wander, a limited-edition special version of the G Line has been created — which stands out clearly from the standard model thanks to its distinctive paint finish, specially designed components and a matching backpack. The fact that the G Line, of all models, serves as the basis is rather fitting – after all, it is the Brompton that is best suited to venturing beyond classic inner-city commutes.
Japanese outdoor design meets Brompton
And Wander combines functional outdoor clothing with a contemporary, fashionable approach. Much like Brompton, the Japanese brand embraces the idea of not limiting products to a single purpose.
The G Line is therefore the ideal choice for this joint special edition. With its 20-inch wheels, it is larger than the classic Brompton models, yet remains compact when folded; it offers a more grown-up riding experience and is also suitable for longer rides and excursions off the perfectly tarmac-surfaced city centre routes.
Grey meets yellow
Visually, the Brompton x And Wander is instantly recognisable as a special edition: the frame features a textured metallic grey finish, which is also reflected in the Roller Rack. Yellow anodised accents provide a contrast, whilst a discreetly engraved Brompton x And Wander logo highlights the collaboration.
In addition, there are a number of specially designed details, such as a printed Superlight saddle, matching ergonomic grips and special hinge clamping plates. Reflective frame graphics and a reflective tag on the saddle also reflect the outdoor theme, whilst improving visibility in low-light conditions.
A backpack and other accessories
Another feature of the special edition is the Brompton x And Wander Backpack. It can be attached to the front mount of the G Line in a matter of seconds and carried as a normal rucksack once you reach your destination. It is made from water-repellent ECOPAK, a three-layer laminate made from fully recycled polyester. The colour-coordinated Roller Rack at the rear provides additional storage space and also makes it easier to move the folded bike.
However, the collaboration is not limited to the bike and rucksack. It is complemented by a small collection featuring a poncho, a cap and a compact pouch. These accessories also echo the colour scheme of the special edition model, in grey and yellow, and can be used independently of the bike.
At 3,460 euros, the Brompton x And Wander is admittedly slightly more expensive than the standard G Line, but it does come with the rucksack included.
