Since the appearance of the original Bell, the bicycle bell from Spurcycle is considered the benchmark for a well manufactured, solid and most importantly loud bell. Only the price of more than 50 Euros (in Germany) has probably scared off a lot of interested people so far – and brought numerous imitators onto the scene.
Now Spurcycle is starting right here and with the new Compact Bell they bring a more affordable model. Although it doesn’t seem to be available in Germany at the moment, the US price is about 10 USD below the original Bell. This is due to a simpler construction with 30% fewer parts and a composite nylon mount for (only) 22.2mm diameter handlebars. The weight is reduced from 45g to 28g, but the sound should be identical to the more expensive model – and that’s the main thing!
