New model range featuring Bosch’s Hub Line

Kalkhoff’s new Level 1: Affordable, versatile and ideal for everyday use

A few weeks ago, Bosch unveiled the new Hub Line – the first hub motor developed specifically for urban e-bikes. Kalkhoff is now one of the first manufacturers to incorporate the new drive system into a complete range of models.

With the new Level 1 range, the brand is launching three competitively priced e-bikes in fresh colours, which combine the Bosch drive with the familiar Kalkhoff qualities whilst consistently prioritising simplicity. This starts with intuitive operation and straightforward handling, extends to the low step-through frame of the City models, and culminates in attractive pricing. Another interesting feature is the wide range within the series: from the single-speed model, through the new H2 two-speed gearbox from UTgear, to the classic derailleur, the Level 1 range covers a variety of uses.

Three styles for different needs

The new 1 Series comprises three models: the Image 1 Move is aimed at anyone looking for a particularly low-maintenance e-bike for everyday use. It features a single-speed drivetrain combined with a Gates Carbon Drive belt and is available with either a 360 Wh PowerTube battery or a larger 540 Wh battery. A handy feature: the batteries can be easily removed from the bike for charging, as we’ve already seen on other Kalkhoff bikes. The version with the smaller battery is available exclusively in Diamondblack Glossy. The 540 Wh model, on the other hand, is available in Diamondblack Glossy, Fjordgrey Matt and Aquagrey Matt. Prices are 2,399 euros (with the 360 Wh battery) and 2,599 euros (with the 540 Wh battery).

The Image 1 Advance offers a little more versatility. Here, Kalkhoff combines the low-maintenance Gates toothed belt with the new H2 two-speed gearbox from UTgear. This adds a second gear to the single-speed concept, providing greater flexibility for everyday use – for example, when setting off, on inclines or at higher speeds. This model also always comes fitted with the large PowerTube battery with a capacity of 540 Wh. It is available in the colours Diamond Black Glossy, Ruby Rose Matt and Acacia Yellow Matt at a price of 2,799 euros.

As the third variant, the Endeavour 1 Move completes the range. Unlike the two flagship models, it features a classic derailleur gear system and is therefore aimed at cyclists who are looking to tackle longer distances or slightly hillier terrain. This model is also available with a 360 Wh or 540 Wh PowerTube battery, expanding the 1 Series range to offer even greater versatility. Prices are €2,399 (with the 360 Wh battery) and €2,599 (with the 540 Wh battery), available in the colours Jetgrey Matt (for both battery variants) as well as Fennelgreen Glossy and Polarblue Matt (with the larger battery).

The Bosch Hub Line motor at the heart of the system

All models are powered by the new Bosch Hub Line. The hub motor is fully integrated into the Bosch Smart System, delivers up to 45 Newton metres of torque and has been specially developed for everyday urban use. On the Imagemodels, the system is controlled via the compact Bosch Purion 200, which combines the display and control unit in a single housing, whilst on the Endeavour it is controlled via the LED Remote.

Designed for everyday use

Despite being positioned as an entry-level range, Kalkhoff has not compromised on the brand’s signature features. Both models feature an adjustable stem for customising the riding position, a comparatively high maximum permissible weight of 150 kilograms, and a MIK HD system luggage rack with a load capacity of up to 27 kilograms. Compatibility with a front rack further underlines the practical appeal of the new model range.

Similarly, the e-bikes come fully equipped for everyday use straight from the factory: mudguards, an integrated Herrmans lighting system and hydraulic disc brakes are all part of the standard specification, as are the suspension seat post and an SR Suntour Mobie A32 suspension fork with 75 millimetres of travel. Together with the wide tyres, this is designed to ensure both riding comfort and safety on a variety of surfaces.

An affordable way to get started in the world of e-bikes

With its Level 1 range, Kalkhoff aims to make the transition into the world of e-bikes as straightforward as possible. Rather than focusing on maximum performance or an extensive range of features, the new series prioritises ease of use, low-maintenance technology and solutions suitable for everyday use. At the same time, the model range offers enough choice to cater for a variety of needs – from minimalist single-speed models through to innovative two-speed solutions and classic derailleur gears. Thanks to Bosch’s new Hub Line, solid specifications and attractive prices, the Level 1 range is likely to be an interesting option for anyone looking for a straightforward e-bike for everyday use.
