Steel frame, front struts and a fresh new look

Rose Hobo gets an update: more everyday use, more gravel, more style

Rose has done it again! We were impressed by the concept right from the Hobo’s launch: as a hybrid of an urban and gravel bike with a steel frame, the bike promised from the outset to be an uncomplicated, versatile and fun machine for everyday use and leisure. Now the Bocholt-based brand has given the Hobo an update, further refining the model’s character. With new features, improved ergonomics and, above all, the new colour option, the Hobo is moving even closer to being a versatile everyday gravel bike.

New drive, fresh look

At the heart of the model update is the new Hobo Cues, which will be the only model available from now on, replacing the previous versions. For the drivetrain, Rose has opted for Shimano’s Cues 10-speed groupset. Added to this is the new “Cotton Candy” colour scheme, which gives the bike – already a standout – an even more striking look. One of the most visible new features is the front carrier, now fitted as standard. The Hobo Base Rack, complete with two straps, is now part of the standard equipment and expands the bike’s everyday carrying capacity. At the same time, weighing in at 13 kilograms, the bike remains within a weight range that makes it suitable for both daily commutes and longer rides.

Rose has also made improvements to the ergonomics: even in our brief test of the Hobo, we had noticed at the time that the handlebars were very wide at 78 centimetres. It is therefore all the more pleasing that Rose has now fitted a narrower model. With a width of 680 millimetres, the riding position should be slightly more compact, which should make the bike easier to manoeuvre in city traffic and on narrow paths.

Tried-and-tested steel frame

However, the bike remains true to its core design philosophy. The familiar steel frame continues to form the basis and is paired with a carbon fork. This combination blends comfort with responsive handling and suits the bike’s versatile character well. Shimano hydraulic disc brakes provide the stopping power. The rest of the spec is also consistently geared towards flexibility. Rose combines its own G30 wheels in 27.5-inch format with 47-millimetre-wide gravel tyres, which are designed to perform just as well on tarmac as on gravel paths.

In addition, there are a total of 14 mounting points on the frame and fork for attaching bags, bottle cages or other accessories. For those looking to adapt the bike more towards a commuter or touring bike, there are also mounts for mudguards and a kickstand. Thanks to a tyre clearance of up to 55 millimetres, the setup can also be adapted to suit a variety of uses.

A versatile companion for everyday life and adventure

With this update, Rose hasn’t fundamentally changed the Hobo, but has refined the existing design in just the right places. The standard front rack, the revised ergonomics and its new positioning as the sole production model make this already intriguing steel bike an even more well-rounded package for anyone who doesn’t want to choose between city, gravel and everyday use. The Rose Hobo Cues is available now at a price of 1,300 euros. Further information can be found directly in Rose’s online shop.
