British brand Temple Cycles, known for steel-frame bicycles with classic lines, is launching the Classic Disc, a new model designed for urban use. The bike is deliberately minimalist and clearly inspired by traditional bicycle designs – a wonderfully classic look that practically celebrates the conventional bicycle without pandering to short-lived trends.
A defining feature is the flat handlebar, which allows for a more upright riding position and supports direct handling in city traffic. The frame is made from Reynolds 520 steel tubing, a material widely used in bicycle manufacturing due to its durability and distinctive riding characteristics. The model is offered exclusively with a diamond frame and high top tube, further emphasizing its classic silhouette. Combined with the 40-millimeter-wide tires, the bike is also intended to handle unpaved paths, rather than being limited purely to road use.
In terms of components, Temple relies on equipment from the current trekking and all-road segment. The bike is fitted with a 9-speed drivetrain from Shimano’s CUES series, designed for ease of use. It is complemented by Shimano hydraulic disc brakes, which provide consistent braking performance even in wet weather conditions – here too, the classically styled bike reveals its modern side. The WTB Vulpine tires used are tubeless-compatible and feature a tread pattern suitable for both asphalt and loose surfaces.
Attention to everyday practicality is also evident in the details. The frame offers various mounting points for luggage racks and additional accessories, making the bike suitable both for commuting and for longer tours with extra gear. The Temple Cycles Classic Disc is said to weigh exactly 12 kg, is available in black in four frame sizes, and costs 1,550 euros.
