Busch+Müller has introduced a new solution for bikes called Turntec T2, a battery-powered indicator system designed to make it way easier to signal turns. This does away with traditional hand signals, which are often awkward or unsafe in traffic – both hands stay on the handlebars. This can improve safety, particularly in heavy traffic and in the dark, as the intention to turn becomes clear and visible well in advance.

Operation is via a quick movement of the palm, which activates the flashing signal without taking your hand off the handlebars. The newly developed Turntec T2 technology is designed to improve both the light output and the beam pattern, enabling other road users to spot the signal more quickly. There is also a hazard light function available for use in critical situations.
Both indicators are housed in robust aluminium casings that are integrated into the handlebar ends – a design familiar from the motorcycling sector. Particularly interesting for bicycles is the straightforward retrofitting: installation requires no special tools and is designed for handlebars with an inner diameter of 17.5 to 19.5 millimetres, and is compatible with handlebars with a bend of up to 20°. The battery, which is recessed into the handlebar, can be charged directly on the bike via a USB-C port, and a charge level indicator shows the current battery status. The advantage of the integrated battery is that it allows the indicators to be used on both conventional bikes and e-bikes.
Sustainability also plays a role right from the design stage: the 700 mAh battery and individual components are replaceable, ensuring that the system remains usable in the long term. The Turntec T2 indicator system is approved under the newly revised German Road Traffic Licensing Regulations (StVZO) and is expected to be available from April 2026; the recommended retail price is 124.90 euros.
