With a comfortable riding position, plenty of suspension travel and a comprehensive range of features, SUV e-bikes have long since established themselves as a versatile alternative between trekking bikes and e-MTBs. It is precisely this segment that Amflow is now targeting. Whilst the brand’s previous models were clearly designed for sporty use, the new Amflow TL is, for the first time, also aimed at everyday urban use. Although its mountain bike heritage is unmistakable, mudguards, racks and numerous mounting options make it a fully-fledged SUV e-bike.
DJI technology for everyday life
The focus here is on the Avinox M2, which is currently one of the most talked-about e-bike drives around. The system was developed by the Chinese technology group DJI. The Amflow TL features the standard version with 110 Nm of torque, although it is said that up to 125 Nm may be possible for short bursts. The peak power output is an impressive 1,100 watts.

Power is supplied by the removable Avinox RS800 battery with a capacity of 800 Wh, which is housed in the bike’s down tube. It is charged as standard using a 4-amp charger. Whilst this is slightly slower than with the brand’s top-of-the-range models, it is still faster than many of its competitors. And for those who want to go on particularly long rides, there is also an optional Range Extender auxiliary battery providing a further 480 Wh.
The system is controlled via two wireless buttons on the handlebars and a 2-inch OLED touchscreen, which is elegantly integrated into the top tube. Gear changes are handled by an electronic TRP E.A.S.I. derailleur with ten gears.
The Amflow TL also remains true to its sporty roots when it comes to the suspension. A Fox full-suspension system with 120 millimetres of travel is designed to ensure a high level of comfort on both poor roads and gravel tracks. Together with the 27.5-inch wheels and tyres around 60 millimetres wide, the bike promises plenty of comfort and reserves off the beaten track. Another striking feature is the specially developed touring handlebar with a 93-millimetre rise, which visually resembles a BMX handlebar and allows for a particularly upright riding position.

The Amflow TL emphasises its suitability for everyday use with a comprehensive range of standard features. These include mudguards and a side stand, as well as a luggage rack meeting the MIK HD standard, which can carry loads of up to 27 kilograms. In addition, the frame is designed to accommodate a front luggage rack and is also approved for use with a bicycle trailer. Another notable feature is the permissible gross weight of 200 kilograms. This gives the bike an unusually large margin for riders, luggage and trailers – especially as the bike itself is said to weigh just 22.6 kg thanks to its carbon frame (weighed without fittings such as lights, pedals, mudguards, rack and side stand).
First impressions of the ride: a smooth ride, clever shifting
At Eurobike, we were able to take the Amflow TL for a few laps and get a first impression of how it rides. The very upright and relaxed riding position is immediately noticeable. The high touring handlebars and the adjustable seatpost make it easy to find a comfortable riding position quickly. At the same time, the controls are pleasantly straightforward. Just four buttons are needed to control all the system’s key functions.

Whilst riding, it was the interplay between the engine and the gearbox in particular that made a strong impression. The Avinox drive delivers its high power output with surprising smoothness and can be finely modulated at all times. At the same time, it runs pleasantly quietly. The electronic gearbox changes gears quickly and precisely. Particularly clever is Avinox’s SmoothShift system, which allows gear changes even without moving the pedals – for example, when coasting or whilst stationary.

A surprisingly attractive price
The Amflow TL also makes a big impression when it comes to price. For 3,499 euros, this full-suspension SUV e-bike offers a level of specification that has rarely been seen in this combination before. The model will initially be available in two frame sizes and exclusively in the colour Silica Beige. At the same time, Amflow made it clear at Eurobike that the TL, as a versatile platform, offers a range of possibilities: for example, a version with drop-bar handlebars was also on display at the Eurobike stand. Together with the numerous luggage mounts, this gives a glimpse of the potential the new platform could offer for further model variants. However, those interested will need to be patient for a little while longer. Amflow has not yet announced a specific launch date.
