The new Vortrieb 1.2 can be described as a solid everyday bike in the best sense. No frills, no high-tech — just a everyday bike with reliable components. By the way, the mail-order company Bike Components is behind the Vortrieb brand and the new model is the second and somewhat revised edition of the previously available Urban Bike.
The basis of the Vortrieb 1.2 is an aluminum frame with cleanly smoothed welds, which is available as a typical diamond frame with a high top tube as well as a comfort frame in trapezoid shape. A new frame geometry ensures a slightly more upright riding position. Special mention must be made of the variety of available frame sizes: with up to five sizes from S to XXL, there should be the right model for everyone!
As with the predecessor, a maintenance-free hub gear from Shimano from the Alfine series with 8 gears is installed in the rear wheel, combined with a classic bicycle chain. In the front wheel, a hub dynamo ensures that the lighting system from Busch+Müller is always supplied with power. Other features suitable for everyday use include the sturdy mudguards from Wingee, which have two practical bag holders integrated at the rear for 8 kg of load each. Compared to the previous model, the 28″ tires have become slightly wider with now 38 mm, which should also increase the ride comfort.
The Vortrieb 1.2 is available with a diamond frame in the colors White Aluminum and Raven Black, but with a trapezoid frame only in black. In view of the solid equipment, the retail price of 1,300 euros can be called quite fair.
