Following Ampler’s launch of its new Nova and Nova Pro models in April, representing a fresh generation of e-bikes, the existing top-of-the-range Curt model is now also receiving an update. The sportiest and lightest bike from the Estonian brand remains true to its purist character, but has been revised in a number of key details – most notably with the addition of a modern USB-C charging port.

Fine tuning for the top model
As with the new Nova and Nova Pro models, Ampler is now also using the more convenient USB-C charging solution for the Curt. The permanently installed battery in the down tube still has a capacity of 336 watt hours and can be fully charged in around three hours with a 140-watt charger (Ampler does not currently seem to support higher charging power, although theoretically up to 240 watts should be possible with USB Power Delivery (PD)). The proven rear hub motor with torque sensor is identical to that used in the Nova series bikes and is designed to provide natural assistance – integrated almost invisibly into the simple frame design.
The controls remain as minimalist as ever: a small display on the top tube shows the most important information, while the Ampler app provides additional data, including the bike’s location via the integrated GPS tracker. The battery is permanently installed in the frame and the lighting system is fully integrated – making the Curt the prime example of Ampler’s philosophy of understated, clean design.

Two drive variants, two equipment lines
Curt is available in two versions in terms of drive: firstly as a single-speed version with Gates Carbon Drive belt drive, and alternatively as an 11-speed model with a derailleur gear system from Shimano’s Deore series. There are also two equipment lines: Blank without mudguards, a rear rack and stand, or Equipped with all these everyday accessories.
Depending on the model, the Curt weighs between 14.1 kilograms (single speed blank) and 16.3 kilograms (equipped with derailleur gears), making it the lightest e-bike in the Ampler portfolio.
The differences of the top model
Compared to Ampler’s Nova models, it’s clear where the Curt gets its weight and sporty advantages: a carbon fork, narrower 40-millimetre tyres and higher-quality brakes save weight. In addition, the rear light is elegantly integrated into the seat post. Overall, this makes the Curt around 1.4 kilograms lighter than the Nova Pro with comparable equipment.
Ampler offers the Curt with both a diamond frame and a trapezoidal frame for greater comfort. Both versions are available in up to three frame sizes and in black and silver. Priced at 3,690 euros, the Curt remains the top model in the range, positioning itself as a particularly lightweight e-bike for purists who value design, technology and a sporty riding experience.
