With the Lundi 20 Cargo 5, Moustache is updating its compact longtail cargo bike — with fresh technology, clever details and a refined design. We have tested the new features in detail here.
Design
The unique design of the Lundi 20 already impressed us on the previous model — and Moustache remains true to its striking design language on the new Lundi 20 Cargo 5. A new feature is the minimalist main frame with just one tube that extends from the head tube to the seat tube, allowing a lower step-through. A square tube is again used here, giving the bike a slim, tidy silhouette.

Contributing to this is the characteristically edgy Moustache handlebar with its integrated cable routing on the cockpit. It now comes with a crossbar that gives it a sporty BMX look — matching the small 20-inch wheels. Also new is the suspension fork and a wide front carrier at the front as standard.
The extended rack at the rear, typical of longtail cargo bikes, characterises the bike’s appearance. Despite its slim design, it is stable and offers numerous mounting options for accessories. Thanks to its discreet positioning behind the seat tube, the battery fits unobtrusively between the frame and carrier.
A warm beige colour, Silk Grey, is broken up by neon orange protective stickers — stylish and functional at the same time.
Equipment
With the new model, the Lundi 20 Cargo finally features the Smart System from Bosch — together with the Cargo Line motor and its powerful 85 Nm torque. The built-in PowerPack battery has a capacity of 545 Wh, with the option of an 800 Wh — which is our recommendation for the longest possible range, even with a heavy load. The drive is controlled via the compact Purion 200 display, which combines compact dimensions with a wide range of functions.

For the Lundi 20 Cargo 5, Moustache relies on the continuously variable Enviolo HD hub gears with a 380% gear range, combined with the virtually maintenance-free Gates belt drive. Deceleration is provided by Magura MT4 disc brakes — with a large 203 mm disc at the front and 180 mm at the rear to cope with the high loads.

On board for the first time is the Mobie 34 from SR Suntour, a suspension fork that offers 70 mm of travel. Further comfort is provided by the 60 mm wide Schwalbe Pick-Up tyres in 20 inch format and the suspension seat post with 40 mm travel, which can also be lowered by 100 mm.
The equipment now also includes an integrated frame lock at the front, which can be supplemented with a separate chain or cable. The lighting comes from AXA, with a brake light function on the rear light and a front headlight that is attached to the front pannier rack.

The front carrier itself is designed for a load of up to 15 kg and is compatible with the MIK system. In addition, two bottle holders can now also be attached there. The long rear carrier, on the other hand, can carry an impressive 70 kg and is even equipped with several MIK HD holders. This means that even heavier accessories such as child seats, crates or baskets can be mounted without tools. There are also removable side brackets for QL3 bags. The permissible total weight of the Lundi 20 Cargo is 200 kg, of which the bike itself weighs around 33 kg.

At the rear of the bike is the revised kickstand, which is now easier and even safer to use. The EQ model we tested also comes with a railing and footrests as standard — ideal for transporting children. And when not in use, the bike can also be parked vertically.
Operation
Let’s start with the electric drive, because the operation of the Bosch system works excellently in practice. Together with the free eBike Flow app, up to five riding modes can be individually configured with the Purion 200 — in the test, however, we preferred to use the specially customised Cargo mode. The display is easy to read and the system is also easy to operate while riding. New functions, such as managing several bikes in one app, are now also possible. This is particularly practical for a cargo bike like this, which is often used temporarily by several people in the family.

The Enviolo hub gear is operated using the familiar twist grip, with the integrated display symbolically showing the current gear position. As usual, the way from one end to the other is a little (too) long, but allows shifting even when stationary.
Thanks to its open placement, the battery is easily accessible and can be conveniently removed from the top — handy for charging at home or in the office. If you prefer, you can also charge the battery directly on the bike.
The thumb button for the dropper seatpost is located on the opposite side of the handlebars: the saddle can be lowered or raised again at the touch of a button.

The versatility of the Lundi 20 Cargo 5 is particularly evident when transporting luggage: the MIK-compatible interfaces enable the quick exchange of various accessories: seat cushions, baskets or child seats can be changed in no time at all, especially as the MIK locks are also easily accessible. Moustache itself offers a wide range of accessories with two different boxes, toddler seat, junior seat and the new seat cushions that were fitted to the test bike.
A particularly exciting feature of the Lundi 20 Cargo is the revised kickstand, which is now even more user-friendly than its predecessor. It offers a wide base to park the loaded bike safely. This means that kids can climb on and off the bike on their own without having to worry about the bike tipping over.
Thanks to the revised mechanics, the bike can now be placed on the stand quite easily even when fully loaded — without the need for much effort.
The stand is now also secured against unintentional folding in: To release it, a mechanical lever must be pushed with the foot. Only then can the bike be pushed forwards and the kickstand folds in automatically. However, the kickstand can only be operated from the left-hand side, which can be a little awkward in some parking situations.
An additional special feature: the Lundi 20 Cargo can also be parked vertically if required. To do this, the stand is folded out, the front wheel is raised slightly and the bike is tilted backwards using the rubberised feet at the end of the luggage carrier. This parking position significantly reduces the space required and makes it easier to store the bike in narrow hallways or garages.

Riding impressions
The riding position on the Lundi 20 Cargo is upright and comfortable, which offers a good overview and control in traffic, especially in urban use. Thanks to the low step-through frame, getting on and off the bike is much easier for smaller people and, together with the lowerable seat post, the seat height can be adjusted quickly and easily — ideal if the bike is used by several people.
It should be noted that the cockpit cannot be further adjusted due to the special handlebars with integrated cable routing. Moustache recommends the Lundi 20 Cargo for people between 157 and 190 cm tall — in the test, we found a suitable sitting position at 175 and 185 cm right away.

The riding characteristics benefit noticeably from the new suspension fork, which effectively absorbs kerbs, bumps and cobblestones. This ensures greater comfort on rough roads — not only for the rider, but also for sensitive cargo on the front carrier. In addition, the front wheel suspension provides additional riding stability at higher speeds, especially when cornering or when loaded.
Bosch’s Cargo Line motor makes full use of its high torque, especially when starting off. In Cargo mode, which is specially designed for heavy loads, the assistance kicks in immediately — even on inclines or when fully loaded, for example with a child or shopping. The drive is then also clearly audible and is reminiscent of the fourth generation Performance Line CX.

Despite its purpose as a cargo bike, the Lundi 20 Cargo 5 remains surprisingly agile and easy to handle. The compact wheels and short wheelbase allow easy manoeuvring through narrow alleyways or busy city traffic. At the same time, the handling always remains controlled and confident, even under load.

Conclusion
The new Moustache Lundi 20 Cargo 5 is a great update of an already convincing concept. Great design, high everyday usability and fun to ride are combined in a compact and well thought-out cargo bike. Particularly noteworthy: the versatile rack with clever interfaces, the improved kickstand and the safe ride behaviour.
While the Bosch drive impresses with its high power delivery, the continuously variable Enviolo gears and belt drive are low-maintenance and intuitive in everyday use. Anyone who regularly transports children or cargo will find a modern, practical and stylish bike here.
