Lightness is a strong focus for the brand new Tensile collection from Chrome Industries, a label that originally came from the bike messenger scene. The design team’s task was to develop innovative, lightweight and at the same time resistant materials. The result is a collection with a cool look paired with high functionality.Â
The Tensile models are made from a dirt- and water-repellent, extremely tear-resistant and highly technical 3-layer laminate made from recycled ripstop nylon and polyester, which has a very high tensile strength. It gets extra stability from a robust, wide webbing system whose V-shape has statement character. This very light material construction should easily handle even the heaviest loads. As with all Chrome Bags, it comes with a lifetime guarantee.Â
The Tensile Ruckpack combines classic outdoor backpack design with an urban look. The classic hooded top (with integrated zip pocket) closes with the iconic aluminium Chrome Buckle. Inside, a padded compartment offers space for a 15-inch laptop, while numerous organiser pockets ensure that small items are stored safely and neatly. Reflective strips and additional gear loops are attached to the shoulder straps, compression straps and chest strap. The Tensile backpack also has two expandable water bottle pockets on the side. With a volume of 25 L and dimensions of 47x28x15 cm, the Tensile Ruckpack weighs 900 grams. The price is 180 euros.
Ease of carrying is the main focus of the Tensile Hip Pack. This bag offers seven litres of packing volume divided between two large main compartments with additional organiser and zipped pockets, a padded zipped front pocket and two expandable side compartments with quick release and compression straps. With an adjustable strap with Chrome’s distinctive aluminium buckle closure, it also offers two different carrying options as a sling bag or hip bag. The weight is 380 grams (dimensions 18x30x10 cm, the price here is 100 euros.
