No less than 3 new model series

Image, Endeavour and Entice: Kalkhoff’s new light e-bikes for 2024

Kalkhoff is launching three brand new model series this year, focussing on lightweight e-bikes with sophisticated equipment and excellent design — the traditional brand has already won the prestigious iF Design Award for its new bikes!

Although the names Image, Endeavour and Entice are already familiar from the Kalkhoff range, the addition of L for Lightweight is new! Accordingly, the new models offer a comparatively light weight from around 20 kg — but without compromising on features! The new Image L, Endeavour L and Entice L models are fully equipped for everyday use with mudguards, a MIK system rack and a lighting system. Depending on their intended use, the equipment of the individual model series also includes features such as a suspension fork or front pannier rack.

For the electric drive, Kalkhoff relies on the new Performance Line SX drive from Bosch. In addition to its light weight, it also offers more compact dimensions compared to the previous motors from the German company. This makes it a great starting point for equally lightweight and slim e-bikes. And despite its reduced size, the mid-drive motor offers adequate power for urban and active cycling with a torque of 55 Nm and up to 600 watts of power.

Just as compact and light is the 400 Wh battery, which is inconspicuously integrated into the frame in all three Kalkhoff model series — but can still be removed from the down tube for charging. This offers maximum flexibility when it comes to charging the bike. If you want to go on a long tour, you can also use Bosch’s optional PowerMore battery with the bikes: an additional battery the size of a water bottle with a capacity of 250 Wh.

The entire drive system is controlled via the Purion 200 controller on the handlebars: a compact display with buttons that is unobtrusively integrated into the design of the bike and yet offers all the relevant information and functions.

Image L, Endeavour L and Entice L: three model series of lightweight e-bikes for every type of rider

Stylish city bike, sporty commuter bike or robust all-road companion? The new Image L, Endeavour L and Entice L cover a wide range of uses, with the Endeavour L even available in two different configurations:

Kalkhoff Image L Advance: a stylish city bike designed for urban use. A striking feature is the standard front rack, which has a load capacity of 10 kg and should prove to be very practical in everyday use. For maximum freedom from maintenance, Kalkhoff has opted for a hub gear system from Shimano’s Nexus series with 7 gears, which is driven by a modern belt drive from Gates. The hydraulic MT200 disc brake system also comes from Shimano. Kalkhoff has dispensed a suspension fork on this model, but has fitted the bike with 50 mm wide Schwalbe Marathon tyres in 29″ format — with the right air pressure, many small bumps can be absorbed this way. The weight of the Image L Advance starts at 21 kg in the colours Sagegreen matt or Diamondblack glossy.

Kalkhoff Endeavour L Move: instead of hub gears, the Endeavour L Move is equipped with derailleur gears from Shimano’s Cues series with 9 gears. The hydraulic MT200 disc brake system also comes from Shimano and the 50 mm wide Schwalbe Marathon tyres in 29″ format are combined with a rigid fork. The weight of the Endeavour L Move starts at 21 kg in Jetgrey matt or Oceanshades matt.

Kalkhoff Endeavour L Excite: in keeping with the requirements of a sporty commuter bike, the Endeavour L Excite comes with derailleur gears from Shimano’s high-quality XT series with 12 gears. The MT30 brake system on this model comes from Magura, the G-One Overland tyres from Schwalbe — the 29″ tyres are also pleasantly wide at 50 mm. Weighing around 20 kg, the Endeavour L Excite is the lightest of the new models, available in Jetgrey matt or Nepalsilver glossy.

Kalkhoff Entice L Advance: As a lightweight all-road and SUV bike, the Entice L Advance also allows you to explore rough terrain. A Suntour NCX32 suspension fork with 75 mm travel is fitted to the bike, while the Schwalbe Racing Ralph tyres in 27.5″ format are even wider at 57 mm and have an off-road profile. With their brown sidewalls, the tyres also make a visual statement. As with the Endeavour L Move, the Shimano Cues derailleur system with 9 gears is also used here, as are the Shimano MT200 brakes. The weight of the Entice L Advance starts at 22 kg in the colours Darksprings glossy or Moonstonegrey matt.

Prices and availability

In addition to a diamond frame and high top tube, all bikes are also available as a comfort frame with a low step-through — Kalkhoff calls this variant Wave. Both frame shapes are available in sizes S, M and L, with the diamond frame also available in size XL. If you wish, you can also mount the front carrier of the Image L on one of the other bikes. Thanks to the mounting points on the frame, this option is possible for all models.

At 3,499 euros, the Endeavour L Move offers the most affordable entry into the world of Kalkhoff’s new light bikes, followed by the SUV model Entice L Advance, which is only 100 euros more expensive at 3,599 euros. The urban Image L Advance is available for 3,899 euros, while the sporty lightweight Endeavour L Excite costs 4,299 euros. Further information on the new lightweight e-bikes can of course also be found directly via Kalkhoff’s website.
