With their current line-up, EGO Movement from Switzerland wants to bring some retro charm to the modern e-bike world – and judging by their new models, they seem to be succeeding. The Swiss brand combines contemporary technology with a look reminiscent of classic bicycles, without sacrificing modern functionality.
Even at first glance, the bikes stand out thanks to a detail that cannot be found anywhere else: the illuminated Swiss cross on the front of the head tube serves as a position light and gives the bikes an unmistakable signature on the road. Equally characteristic are the permanently integrated luggage racks, which are part of the frame and painted in the same colour. This gives the bikes a seamless look, enhanced by the neatly laid cables and wires in the frame. Shiny silver attachments such as the stem, handlebars, seat post and polished rims, combined with a brown saddle and matching grips, reinforce the retro look.

Despite classic design elements, EGO Movement relies on proven modern technology. Power and assistance are provided by the powerful Shimano EP6 mid-drive motor with 85 Newton metres of torque. Depending on the model, either a derailleur gear system or a hub gear system with a low-maintenance toothed belt is used. The use of the Nexus 5e hub, which is specially designed for the higher forces of e-bike motors, is particularly pleasing. The removable battery with 531 watt hours offers a practical range for everyday city use.
All models are equipped with wide tyres, mudguards, lights and the distinctive luggage rack for urban use. The latter supports the widely used MIK system, which allows bags, baskets and boxes to be easily attached with a click.

The model range includes three urban bikes to suit different tastes:
- Pixii is the sportier version of the low step-through bikes and features the new Shimano Cues derailleur gear system and black attachments, giving it a slightly more modern, minimalist look.
- Curie is aimed at lovers of a distinctive retro style. It combines elegant silver components with hub gears and a belt drive.
- Galvani offers the same technical and aesthetic features as Curie, but with a classic diamond frame and higher top tube.

The line-up will be expanded in future with Millikan, a longtail cargo bike that also features a classic look. Equipped with the Shimano EP6 motor in the cargo version, it offers an extended loading area at the rear that, like the urban bikes, is compatible with the MIK system. For greater safety and braking power when carrying heavy loads, more powerful brakes with 180-millimetre discs are used.
EGO Movement is launching with very fair prices: the Pixii with derailleur gears is the cheapest model at 3,299 euros. Curie and Galvani are both priced at 3,599 euros, while the Longtail Millikan is available for 3,999 euros. Thanks to their unique appearance, the new bikes from EGO Movement stand out refreshingly from the crowd in the urban e-bike segment.
