With its X1, Litelok already offers a particularly robust U-lock, which has attracted attention primarily for its high level of protection against attacks using an angle grinder. Now, the new X1 Mini follows as a more compact version, specifically aimed at cyclists who want to combine high security with the lightest possible weight and smallest possible size.
Weighing in at 1.48 kg, the new model is noticeably lighter than the familiar X1, yet still features the same multi-layered protective architecture. At its heart remains the patented Barronium composite armour, a combination of particularly hard ceramic and metallic components. When used with angle grinders, the material is designed to actively increase the wear of the cutting discs, reduce sparking and significantly slow down the cutting process.
It is precisely this feature that sets the lock apart from many traditional U-locks. Whilst numerous standard models on the market can often be cut open within seconds using an angle grinder, Litelok takes a different approach: rather than promising absolute indestructibility, the lock is designed to hold off potential thieves for as long as possible and significantly increase the effort required to steal it. According to the manufacturer, the X1 Mini is at least five times more resistant to angle grinders than many of the current best-selling high-security U-locks. The model is certified to Sold Secure Diamond level – for both bicycles and e-bikes.
As well as security, transport is also a key consideration in everyday life. This is precisely where the X1 Mini’s more compact design comes into its own. Its internal dimensions of 99.5 × 136.6 millimetres are deliberately smaller, making it ideal for urban use – such as a quick stop outside a café, running short errands or locking it up at work. The concept is complemented by the new X1 Mini Tactical Mount, which is designed to secure the lock to the frame without vibration and, according to the manufacturer, holds securely even on bumpy roads.
Like all models in the X Series, the X1 Mini is manufactured entirely in the UK. Litelok has also incorporated a number of practical design features, including self-sealing locking cylinders, reflective elements for improved visibility, and a rubberised outer shell to protect delicate bike frames. Priced at 159 euros, the new X1 Mini is available now here in the Litelok online shop and is also slightly cheaper than the standard Litelok X1.
