We have been keeping an eye on Hepha for some time now — and for good reason: the relatively young company from Maisach near Munich offers e-bikes that stand out with a powerful mid-motor with up to 100 Nm of torque, an appealing design and a good price-performance ratio. Following successful series in the mountain and trekking bike sector, Hepha has also been expanding its portfolio this year to include urban models — the new e-bikes in the City 7 series.

Remarkable e-drive: powerful, efficient, intelligent
A truly unique selling point of Hepha is the Hepha P100 drive — a system that took almost five years to develop. Unlike many manufacturers, Hepha does not rely on bought-in standard solutions, but aims to set the standard with its own customized motor technology.
The focus here is on the P101C motor, which is one of the most powerful in its class with a maximum torque of up to 100 Nm. Despite this power, it weighs just 2.8 kg — thanks to its clever design and lightweight magnesium housing. An innovative thermal management system is also designed to prevent overheating even on longer or more demanding rides and enable consistently high performance.

Four sensors and a nimble motor control system ensure a particularly natural and sensitive driving experience that adapts perfectly to the driving behavior and surface. Added to this is the quiet noise development, which is intended to provide a pleasantly unobtrusive driving experience.
The system is also well equipped for day-to-day use when it comes to charging: the standard 6 A fast charger charges the battery up to 50% faster than conventional models. In addition, the drive system has a high-resolution display measuring up to 3.5″, which can be operated intuitively using the handlebar remote. Individual settings can also be made, tours analyzed and service functions used via the free Hepha app — for an all-round sophisticated e-bike experience.
Made for everyday urban life: that’s what’s inside the new Hepha City 7
The Hepha City 7 models are aimed at anyone looking for a low-maintenance, everyday yet powerful e-bike. Both variants, the City 7 Long Range and the City 7 Ultra, are equipped with the Carbon Drive CDX belt drive from leading manufacturer Gates. Compared to a conventional bicycle chain, this type of belt drive is quiet, clean and largely maintenance-free. It is not only the 55 mm wide tires in 27.5″ format that ensure a high level of riding comfort — the suspension fork at the front also takes the fear out of cobblestones and potholes.

Safety and visibility are guaranteed by the lighting system with a Litemove headlight and an AXA rear light on the pannier rack. This also has a MIK HD interface and is therefore compatible with a wide range of accessories — from a shopping box to a child seat. A major advantage of the system is that the accessories can be attached and removed with a single click, which is a real plus in everyday life.
Comparison of the models
For the launch, Hepha is offering the City 7 in these two variants: the City 7 Long Range at an attractive entry-level price and the City 7 Ultra as the top model with maximum performance. We have summarized the differences between the two models here:
- Hepha City 7 Long Range: The Long Range is the entry-level model in the series and offers a 100 Nm mid-motor in combination with a 1.96” display and the 708 Wh battery. The Shimano Nexus 5-speed gear hub is specially designed for e-bike use. The Suntour SF19 NEX E25 suspension fork with 63 mm travel is used. A 50 lux Litemove headlight ensures visibility. The bike comes in the color Mid Grey and currently costs 2,999 euros.
- Hepha City 7 Ultra: The Ultra is the top model with a 100 Nm motor, large 3.5” display and an 804 Wh battery. The continuously variable Enviolo HD hub gears ensure smooth shifting without noticeable gear changes, while the higher-quality Suntour Mobie34-D AIR suspension fork is used. A bright 70 lux Litemove headlight and the Dark Blue color complete the equipment. The price is currently 3,699 euros.
Both models weigh around 28 kg, not too much of a surprise given the extensive equipment, and are available in two frame variants. While the City 7 Long Range is available exclusively as a comfort frame (StepThrough) with a low step-through, the City 7 Ultra is also available with a diamond frame and high top tube (HighStep) — in three sizes each.
We recently had the opportunity to take a look at the City 7 Ultra with diamond frame at Eurobike Show — and to be honest, the deep blue paintwork looks even more appealing in real life than in the manufacturer’s photos:

With its new City 7 series, Hepha is launching two interesting models for urban use. Both models score points with their low-maintenance belt drive, powerful motor, large battery and well thought-out details. The specially developed P101C motor stands out technically from many competitor systems. The motor power is particularly impressive on the Ultra model with its torque of 100 Nm!
In line with their extensive features, the City 7 Long Range and City 7 Ultra models are fairly priced at 2,999 euros and 3,699 euros and can be ordered from retailers or directly from the manufacturer’s website.
1 thought on “Hepha City 7: e-bikes with an advanced drive system and plenty of comfort for the city”
Very nice, but would like a “comfort” option from the factory, similar to the e.g. R&M Nevo. OK, that might complicate things, BUT anecdotal evidence is that changing the position to the sitting to more vertical is chronically incredibly popular — even on higher end bikes with more features and more power (it’s not really relevant to most consumers that some gains in Nm are offset by a less aero position… in sum, I think that “the people” are ahead of the engineers on the true lack of desire for sportiness!
But still… all of this fine engineering and NO frame bosses for a cafe lock!
