Almost exactly two years ago, Tenways launched its first smart bike, the Tenways CGO009. It was called ‘smart’ because features such as GPS tracking, motion alerts and navigation were directly integrated via a smartphone app. Now, a new version of the model is available – and it brings more changes than you might think at first glance.
What’s new in the new CGO009
Even though the frame of the bike looks very similar to its predecessor at first glance, it is actually a redesigned version: the top tube is now significantly lower, making the bike accessible to a much wider range of riders. In our test of the previous model, we pointed out that riders should ideally be at least 175 cm tall. With the new model, even slightly shorter riders should now be able to ride it comfortably.
The silhouette of the classic Dutch bike remains unchanged, and the removable battery with a capacity of 374 Wh is still on board. However, there have been changes to the integrated lighting. The position light on the front frame remains, but it is now supplemented by a full-fledged headlight on the handlebars. In addition, the rear light is now directly connected to the e-bike’s electrical circuit. On the previous model, this was still battery-powered and had to be switched on separately, which was rather inconvenient. At the same time, the new lighting system is now also fully compliant with the German Road Traffic Licensing Regulations (StVZO). All in all, a series of useful improvements for everyday use!
Proven single-speed drive system
There was little reason to make changes to the electric single-speed drive. The system still consists of the Tenways C9 hub motor with 45 Nm torque, which is controlled particularly naturally via a torque sensor. The low-maintenance belt drive from Gates also remains part of the concept.
However, there have been improvements in terms of usability: on the left side of the handlebars, there is now a compact display that shows the most important information about the ride. In addition, the bell is now electronically controlled, with its sound emitted via an integrated loudspeaker. As with its predecessor, there is also a boost button that provides maximum assistance at the touch of a button.
When it comes to everyday practicality, Tenways continues to focus on practical details. These include 55 mm wide tyres for added comfort, mudguards and a newly designed luggage rack. This is much more discreet than before, yet can still carry up to 20 kg.
Prices and availability
The new Tenways CGO009 is available in Sage Green, Ice Blue and Midnight Black and costs 2,199 euros. The price includes one year of free use of the smart features. After this period, riders can continue to use the connected features via the Smart Connect subscription. During the introductory phase, there will also be a special offer for extending the subscription, which will be available directly on the order page.
The predecessor will remain in the range for the time being and will be offered for 1,999 euros under the name CGO009 Classic Edition in future. Both models can be ordered directly here in the Tenways online shop.
