Beeline Velo 2: New update makes bike navigation even better

Anyone who regularly rides a bike knows the problem: navigating with a smartphone on the handlebars is often impractical, distracting and exposes the expensive device to wind and weather. This is exactly where the Beeline Velo 2 comes in — a sophisticated combination of app and compact display that has been specially developed for cyclists. The small device displays all important navigation information clearly and comprehensibly directly on the handlebars. So your smartphone can stay safely in your pocket! Particularly practical: the Velo 2 can be switched between different bikes in just a few simple steps.

We had already tested the Beeline Velo 2 extensively here and were impressed by its simple operation, clear display and flexible usability. Now Beeline is starting the new cycling season with an extensive functional update. The new features not only significantly improve planning, but also navigation on the road.

Impressive combination: Beeline navigation with smartphone app and compact display

One of the most important new features is the direct integration of Komoot. Cycle routes planned with Komoot can be seamlessly synchronised with the Beeline app and displayed directly on the Velo 2. This simplifies route planning considerably and opens up access to a large collection of community routes. Another practical feature is the new elevation profile. It shows the topography of the route including current position, remaining distance and upcoming climbs. Coloured sections in the profile help to identify difficult climbs in advance and to better manage your own performance. There have also been some changes to the routing: imported GPX files are now processed more precisely, which is particularly advantageous in remote or winding areas. In addition, tours can be started and recorded directly on the Velo 2 — without any smartphone interaction during the ride.

Voice navigation is now available in the free version of the Beeline app. It provides precise turn-by-turn directions and will soon also be available in German – a clear plus for use in German-speaking countries.

In addition to the technical improvements, there is also a comfort update: in future, the Velo 2 will be supplied with a black silicone cover to protect the device in bad weather or if it is dropped. A protection pack with additional colour variants and display protection is available as an option. And best of all: with a price of around 100 euros, the compact gadget is also pleasingly affordable!
