Premium and stylish: KASK Moebius Limelight bike helmet in test

With its Moebius Limelight, Italian brand KASK offers a premium cycling helmet for the city that stands out with its stylish design. Safety features such as the rear light also ensure better visibility in traffic. We take a closer look at the helmet in our test.

While the helmet is currently available in 10 different colours, here we have the model in light ivory — a neutral color that matches every outfit and bike and also emphasizes the clear lines of the helmet. The matt and slightly roughened surface also contributes to this, which gives a premium look and feel – and also proved to be quite scratch-resistant in the test. Even with this light-colored version, you don’t have to worry about the outer skin of the helmet quickly becoming covered in dark scratches!

High-quality materials can also be found elsewhere, for example on the soft chin strap or the removable visor, which simply clips into place. And inside the helmet, six removable and washable pads ensure a comfortable fit.

Like all helmets from KASK, the Moebius Limelight does without the MIPS system, instead relying on certification of the helmet according to the specially developed “KASK Rotational Impact WG11 Tests” — which is also intended to effectively reduce dangerous rotational forces in the event of an accident. The advantage of this system is that the helmet sits nice and slim on the head and does not stand out too far from the head, as is the case with many MIPS helmets.

KASK Moebius Limelight Test Urban Commuter Helm Review Detail 5
The rear light is charged via USB-C and offers 5 light modes

To prevent accidents from happening in the first place, the Moebius Limelight is fitted with a compact LED rear light for better visibility in road traffic. This can be easily removed, which is particularly handy if you want to charge the integrated battery via the USB-C port. The helmet offers a total of five light modes (continuous light in three brightness levels and two flashing modes at different speeds) and the last mode used can be saved by pressing and holding the on/off switch.

With its weight of just under 460 grams (weighed in size 52-58 including LED light), the Moebius Limelight is one of the somewhat heavier helmets, but is nevertheless comfortable to wear over a longer period of time.

Thanks to its reduced number of openings (one wide air intake at the front, two vertical openings at the back), the helmet has a pleasantly minimalist look and provides good protection in the rain. At the height of summer, you could certainly wish for a little more air circulation, but overall the concept offers a good compromise for year-round use of the helmet in urban environments.

The price of the Moebius Limelight corresponds to its high-quality workmanship, materials and design: the recommended retail price is 129 euros, although the helmet is available for less at specialist retailers (for example here at Paul & Prediger).
