The days when bicycle helmets were considered a necessary evil are long gone! Today, the market offers a wide range of helmets that are also visually appealing — and thus even represent a stylish accessory to the bike. However, there has also been a recent upward trend in the price of bicycle helmets. Therefore, it is all the more pleasing that Alpina has not only a very stylish, but also a quite affordable helmet in the range with the Soho. We took a detailed look at it.
Let’s start with the looks: Alpina’s Soho pleases with its clean lines, the most striking feature of which is a black contrast band that integrates two vents on each side. The extensive ventilation is of the helmet is a big feature of the Soho anyway: there is also a ventilation opening on the back, and there are also four really large areas open on the top. Especially for hot summer days, this helmet with its 9 vents is thus a good option!
The helmet is attached to the head in a familiar way: the Y-strap system is operated by a push button, the size can be adjusted with the turn knob on the back. Several pads inside ensure a comfortable fit of the 350 grams (size 51-56) or 390 grams (size 55-59) light helmet, which is made in Germany.
For added safety in traffic, the black logos on the side of the helmet at the front and back are made of a reflective film, which should provide more visibility in the dark.
In addition to the two models presented here in White Gloss and Coffee-Grey Matt, the Alpina Soho is also available in Navy Matt, Black Matt, Olive Matt, Burned Yellow Matt, Purple Matt and Turquoise matt each in two sizes. While the recommended retail price on the part of Alpina is 69.95 euros, the street price has now settled at around 50 euros — which makes the Soho not only a stylish, but also reasonably priced bike helmet.
