All-rounder: Chrome’s new Totes are carrier bag, shoulder bag and backpack in one

For 25 years, Chrome’s motto has been to create products for urban mobility and to inspire people to experience the city. What began in a garage with the production of robust messenger bags has now led to a wide variety of very different bags, backpacks and accessories for urban mobility — and thus of course also for bicycles and e-bikes.

In early 2020, Chrome had introduced a new material to some of its Heritage Bags, which has its origins in the manufacture of sails: BLCKCHRM 22X. This innovative, highly technical nylon fabric is not only super light and absolutely tear-resistant, but also reliably water-repellent thanks to a Cordura TPX laminate. Cyclists, e-bikers and commuters should appreciate this perfect balance of lightness and robustness, of functionality (including reflectors) and versatility. Reason enough for Chrome to expand the BLCKCHRM 22X collection to eight models. In addition to the all-time classic, the Barrage Cargo roll-top backpack, the brand is sending two completely new Totes into urban life. Typical for Chrome, they are hybrid all-rounders and easily mutate from a carrier bag to a shoulder bag, a backpack or a crossbody bag.

Lako 3-Way Tote — One for all

Dead bodies, shoulder bag, backpack. The Lako Tote is a real all-rounder that can be transformed with simple hand movements thanks to adjustable (hidden) straps (with reflectors), a waterproof roll closure and side compression straps. Inside there is a padded laptop compartment and a separate wet compartment, outside a quickly accessible smartphone compartment. The bottom is waterproof. If you wanted to reduce yourself to a single bag in your life – the casual-practical Lako would win the race! The recommended retail price here is 130 euros.

Civvy Tote: carry and shoulder bag combined with messenger

In the Civvy, Chrome has combined the versatility of a tote bag with the safe carrying characteristics of a messenger bag. The stylish multi-talent can be stabilized with an additional stowable crossbody strap to make it suitable for biking. In addition, the zippered interior offers sensibly divided wet and dry compartments, Velcro fasteners for attaching a laptop sleeve and a separate zipper compartment. A side zipper pocket on the outside provides quick access to the smartphone. The recommended retail price here is 110 euros.
